FRY-DAy
its the last work day of the week - and guess what - the bosses are not in .. well - when the cat isn't around, the mice come out to play.. and, i'm part of the mice team. :) its nice to have so few people in office, but things can get really quiet, and i'm feeling ultra sleepy right now. I know.. i've been sleepy.. like forever.. but, well, its the late nites that's the problem. I wish i had 12 more hours - then, i can sleep in for that extra amount of time. Cool wouldn't it ? But well.. since, i'm day dreaming right now, i might as well ask for a stallion to go horse riding on. *sigh*
Watched The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen last nite - i think the most vivid portion will be dorian gray's character. Its slightly different from the way Oscar Wilde portray him. Dorian Gray here seems colder, seems more callous then in the book. He seems less intriguing, less mysterious, less dark. Dorian was born to be beautiful and gentlemanly, of high birth. His blond hair and blue hairs were legendary, however, his innocence, pure mind (err.. by being pure means someone who knows of no malice, of no schemes hatching in his heart) and soul was led astray by a fren he met through another. As days were spent, and ideas were spoken, dorian feared growing old and losing his youth. He made a wish and sold his soul to the devil - that he may never grow old and that his eternal youth will be locked forever. However, the reader could witness the dilemma that dorian goes through in life. he fought constantly, between light and dark, and often, darkness was the victor.
The Picture of Dorian Gray is an excellent book - written to intrigue, written for ponder. It casts perverseness in life into words and pages, portrayed in the mind of a man who once was prudent and pure in spirit. The mortal sins locked in one's inner most mind, but dared to be unlocked by the individual. True in its twisted ways, yet so wrong. it is the other side of the coin. the ugly side of it. It turned out too that this book caused many controversial opinions on its author and among the society of england at that time. It was one of the very best that oscar wilde has penned. The book that cast light on him questioning his personal lifestyle. He withdrew from the public eye, divorced his wife and died old and alone.
Sometimes, i wonder if such perverseness really exists on earth. Some how, oscar wilde has touched a chord, and i know deep down, that what he writes is not of fiction, but of facts. Reality - so clear, yet so blurry. Its dullness in truth could be of our own doings - where we are so fond of doing - to close our ears from ugly truths, and to shut our eyes from what we deem wrong.
Anyway, enough of such talk. Its a friday morning!!! and yes - a couple more hours to the weekends.
