The Story behind Our New Rug

PD and I bought our home a little Christmas present since its the season of giving. (",) The present came in a the form of a rug. And most importantly, we got it for a real steal. Honestly, I am really proud of ourselves. From the CARPARK FULL episode to making the purchase.

PD and I decided to be sucidal and got into our heads that we need to go down to COURTs. That mega store.. Yes, the one in Tampines... and Yes, the one that will definately be an ocean full of people. As certain as daylight, the CARPARK FULL flashed in bold red to the long line of cars queueing to turn into the carpark.

PD and I were on the verge of giving up and heading to Tampines, perhaps, for a quickie. I was famished. I'm uncertain why i'm so very hungry that day despite having Bee Hoon for lunch. When we were on our way out, we saw a car parking at the jagged line road. We moved on. We didn't want to risk it.

We went about 50m and the jagged line was gone. We parked and convince ourselves that we will only be away for a short time. We headed to COURTs... our prize destination and was greeted with a huge crowd. But thankfully, no pushing and shoving. Honestly, I have to say that its alot better then mega sale in town. Its not too bad after all.

We went to the tv section intending to scout for a wireless entertainment system. At this point - please do not start pointing the finger ... the system at our home is dedicated AuDiophile. So, its not suitable for movies. There you go - that's justified enough for us to get our movie system... our wireless movie system.... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.......

Anyway, we went off empty handed because there wasn't any display of wireless systems. *sad*

We started making our way out because our car was 'sort-of' illegally parked. From the very large windows in the store, we peeped down. From where we were, we could see a long line of parked cars snaking from where we started. (",)

I looked at PD and say : WOW! Cannot believe we so smart hor! Strangely, i feel like i've cheated someone cleverly. No one in particular, but, I have a huge kick out of what we've done.

We were moving around checking out what the mall have to offer when i spotted a huge rug on display in one of the furnished square boxes. We've been looking for a rug for ages, but, it ranged from 800 bucks and above. We weren't willing to spend that much on a lousy piece of rug. On a system - definately, but not on a rug.

We were at the rug rack and went through them. Didn't really like any - but i did spotted a rack of rolled-up rugs on a Super Duper Discounted price. Thinking that its usually the hideous looking type - I casually walked over. No harm taking a look. To my surprise - they were pretty much what we were looking for. (",) Goodie! The colours were off though, PD went to check with the sales people, but they were none too helpful. The sales person just casually look at PD and waved his hand generically in a direction and said, its all there. Of course its all THERE! That's where all the rug racks are located you dumbo!!!! I was so near to walking over to that sales guy, smile my sweetest smile, look him in the eye, lift up my hands and PUT IT ROUND HIS NECK to strangle him. "YOU IDIOT! THINK WE BLIND IS IT???? OF COURSE ITS THERE!!!! WHICH ROW LAH -- CANNOT SHOW IS IT ???????"

But, of course, I didn't - I had a better way around. After hoovering around the rug racks to (1) cool off (2) try my luck, I decided to check with another sales person.

Spotted my target - a plump-y bespectacled guy. Goodie.

Me : Hello - i need help with these rugs - could you tell me which of these is that on display?
PLUMP-Y : hello. Sure, let me check
[looked around, walked to the discounted racks and flip the rows of rugs around]
[I went inside my head "WHOOPIE! discounted rack" ]
These are the ones
Me : Oh, only the red and weird coloured ones. Hmmmm.. maybe i should take the red. But, do
you have the same coloured ones in stock as the display ?
[turn to PD] do you think we should get the display? thought, it can be quite gross.
PLUMP-Y : was checking at the back.
Oh, here's one last one.
Me : Great! We'll take it.


Made my payment -- NO QUEUE even. YEAH! and speeded off to our cleverly parked car.
